CANACONA: It’s nearing to a fortnight since Schools have re-opened for the new academic year, but the incidents of some school teachers attending the schools late and going early from the Schools have begun to caused worry to the parents.
Some of the parents have bitterly complained that the school teachers themselves arrives late and leaves the school well before the school time and these are clean indication that these teachers are not interest to impart proper education to their wardens.
Government Primary School, Kuskem(In Khotigao village) is one of such a few other schools in Canacona that parents have alleged the late arrival and early leaving of school atleast by two teachers.
‘There are two teachers working in this government school and one teacher arrived around eight o’clock and the Assembly and Morning prayer was performed by the same teacher until the second teacher arrived later. Then, the headmistress of the school arrived at 8:20’. Complained a concerned parent.
When a reporter sought to question whether, the school headmistress comes on time even as all the students comes well before 08.00am, one of the teacher the headmistress comes on time and further informed the school timing is 8.30 am.
According to reports, the District Education Officer, Canacona Ashok Gawas Desai, when contacted informed that as per the government rules, the teacher/s should reach the school at 7:45 am in the morning and the school get over for the day at 1.35 pm in the afternoon. However, according to the same reports, the DEO has assured that necessary action will be taken against anyone who comes to school late.
Incidentally, when many parents of this school were asked whether they are aware about the school schedule, none of them seems know the opening and closing time of the school and asserted that the schedule of this school is followed as per tradition going on since unknown time.
Dilkush Gaonkar, parent one of the students at Kuskem Govt primary school said that the officials of the concerned department should take immediate action against such dereliction of duties by teacher and if this is allowed to contine, than one day it will have a serious impact on the students of the school and the village will be brought into disrepute. He further said that he will not tolerate such kind of behavior.
Interestingly, during the handing-over of Shram-Dham houses built to the needy people of Canacona function, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as well as Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant spoke rich of providing quality education to the people of Canacona.-
