CANACONA: Social worker and youth leader from Canacona, Shubham Komarpant, has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, highlighting several issues affecting the people of the taluka and seeking their early resolution.
In the memorandum, Komarpant urged the Chief Minister to address the long-pending issue of the Forest Rights Committee (FRC) and the concerns over the possible displacement of residents of Khotigao. He also demanded the immediate disposal of hazardous molasses stored in a vulnerable condition at the IDC Shristhal industrial estate.
He further sought improved infrastructure and adequate teaching staff for government schools in Canacona, while specifically requesting the appointment of a regular Physical Education teacher at Gaondongrim Government High School.
Raising concerns over coastal safety, Komarpant pointed out the lack of proper rescue equipment with the Coastal Police and demanded the commissioning of a new speedboat for the Talpona Coastal Police Station.
He also called for the establishment of a gaushala to accommodate stray cattle that frequently wander onto roads and contribute to accidents. Additionally, he urged the government to remove dangerous roadside trees to enhance the safety of motorists.
Komarpant expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for setting up an Aadhaar Updation Unit in Canacona, introducing the Mundkar and Tenant Protection Bill, and responding positively to issues raised through memorandums and highlighted in the media.
