PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the new cancer hospital in Goa will be commissioned before December 2026.
He said that efforts to establish AIIMS Hospital in Goa will continue, and 100 more seats will be added to Goa Medical College, both in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane claims that three to four specialists have been hired to do the analysis of the Goa Medical College (GMC) and the Super Specialty, while two senior physicians are conducting the gap analysis research of the State’s health and medical facilities hospital.
According to Rane, the physicians have been requested to provide a report to the department so that the appropriate actions can be taken for enhancement.
The investigation, which started in November, will give the department ideas on how to cut down on referrals from District Hospitals.
“Hiring employees won’t be the only solution,” Rane stated. Finding out what the people’s unique needs are and completing these facilities in a targeted way are both necessary, and they are being done.
ID Hospital, Tuem Hospital, and the North and South Goa District Hospitals are all included in the analysis. “We have experts on board, and we will take their recommendations into consideration,” he stated.
According to Rane, the government is negotiating with the Medical Council of India (MCI) to add 100 medical seats to GMC. A decision will be made after discussing this with the Chief Minister.
Additionally, Rane declared that the Goa Cancer Hospital would be put into service before to December 2026.
