MOLLEM: Collem Police have registered a case against the driver of an Ashok Leyland canter after the vehicle allegedly overturned at Anmod Ghat, leaving two persons injured.
According to the state complaint filed by HC Guno Damekar, the accident occurred at around 3:45 pm on July 10, 2026, when the canter was travelling from Dharwad, Karnataka, towards Mollem.
Police identified the driver as Manjunath Kanavi, a resident of Dharwad, Karnataka. He is alleged to have driven the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. On reaching Anmod Ghat, Mollem, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road to the extreme left, overturned and crashed into the roadside safety barrier.
The driver sustained a fracture to his nose, while Mahadevappa Hubballi, a resident of Dharwad who was travelling in the vehicle, suffered a fracture to his left leg.
Collem Police have registered a case, and further investigation is being carried out by HC Guno Damekar.
