NAVELIM: A motorcycle rider sustained bodily injuries after a Baleno car allegedly hit a cow and subsequently collided with an oncoming motorcycle at Mandopa, Navelim, in the early hours of August 12.
According to a complaint lodged by ASI Minguel E. Vaz of Margao Town Police Station, the incident occurred at around 5.30 am opposite B1 Royal Plaza Apartments, Mandopa. The accused driver, identified as Mubarak Shaikh, a resident of Drampaur, was allegedly driving the Baleno car under the influence of alcohol.
The car was reportedly proceeding from Rawanfond towards Janikniband Highway via Mandopa Char Rasta when it hit a cow sitting on the road. Following the impact, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which moved towards the right side of the road and collided with an oncoming Hero Splendor motorcycle.
The motorcycle rider, identified as Agnelo Cameiro of Navelim, sustained bodily injuries in the accident.
Further investigation is being conducted by ASI Minguel E. Vaz of Margao Town Police Station.
