MARCEL: Sandeep Parab, a resident of Marcel, has filed a case against jobs-for-cash mastermind Dipashree Sawant Gawas at the Mardol police station, claiming that he and forty-four other people were defrauded of Rs 3.88 crore on the promise of government jobs.
After constant follow-up, Dipashree reportedly gave the victims back Rs 25 lakh, according to Parab’s lawyer. According to Parab, he had given Dipashree the money in order to get his daughter a job. In relation to the scam, the police have detained Dipashree.
In the meantime, Bicholim police have filed a second jobs-for-cash case against Priya Yadav, another mastermind who is currently under their arrest.
According to Parab’s allegation, Deepashree failed to give jobs despite collecting close to Rs 3.8 crore. He restored the money he had stolen from several people, but she only gave Rs 25 lakh when people began demanding their money back. Additionally, Deepashree’s checks bounced.
Along with information about the recruiting guarantees at the Forest and TCP Departments, Parab has given the police a list of the cash payments made by the job applicants.
The majority of the payments were paid in cash, according to Parab’s attorney, Adv Shailesh Gawas, who also called for a comprehensive inquiry into the scheme and the seizure of Deepashree’s assets, including her cars, gold, and property.
“My client was distressed and even considered suicide before coming to me to lodge a police complaint,” Gawas stated. Those who demanded a refund of their money threatened to kill him.
The judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Ponda, prolonged Deepashree’s police custody by five days on Thursday.
