NEW DELHI: Concerns regarding the relocation of airline operations from Dabolim International Airport to the new Manohar International Airport in Mopa were brought up with the Center once more by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
In the presence of Union Secretary for Civil Aviation Vumlunmang Vualnam and Chairman of the Airport Authority of India M Suresh, CM brought up the problems during a meeting on Thursday in New Delhi with Union Minister for Civil Aviation K Rammohan Naidu and Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol.
“Raised concerns over shifting of operations of airlines from Dabolim to MIA. Discussed various issues related to aviation operations at Dabolim. We have been assured full support from the Govt of India towards further strengthening & incentivising of the Dabolim Airport,” said Sawant.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Ministers of Tourism Rohan Khaunte and Transport Mauvin Godinho. We brought up our concerns regarding the airline’s relocation of its operations from Dabolim to the Manohar International Airport. Additionally, a number of aviation-related issues pertaining to Dabolim were discussed, according to Sawant.
The Chief Minister added that the central government has promised to support Dabolim Airport’s strengthening and improvement in full.
During a recent discussion on the topic of moving flight operations, lawmakers of the ruling party as well as the opposition both expressed concerns.
After a thorough debate in the legislature, Sawant had promised to speak with Union aviation officials about the issue.
