MARGAO: Chandan Caro delivered an outstanding performance by winning two titles at the 1st All Goa State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, emerging as the biggest star of the competition held at UV Academy, Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao.
Chandan displayed remarkable determination in both finals. In the Boys Under 15 category, he staged a stunning comeback after trailing by two games to defeat Ruhaan Shaikh 3-2 in a thrilling contest. He then repeated the feat in the Boys Under 17 final, edging past Rishan Shaikh 3-2 in another closely fought encounter to complete an impressive double crown.
One of the biggest surprises of the tournament came in the Girls Under 17 category, where Neeza Kamat produced a dominant display to upset top seed Ishita Colaso with a convincing 3-0 victory. Ishita, however, bounced back strongly in the Girls Under 15 final, overcoming Sachi Dessai 3-1 to secure the title.
Kaushik Nair celebrated a memorable milestone by winning his maiden State Ranking title. He defeated Mission Lalpekhlua 3-1 in the Boys Under 13 final to lift the championship.
In the Girls Under 13 category, Sachi Dessai emerged victorious after a hard fought 3-2 win over Tisha Shaikh in an exciting final. Top seed Anaya Shukla lived up to expectations by defeating Shaurya Dessai 3-0 to win the Girls Under 11 title, while Ashank Dalvi claimed the Boys Under 11 crown with a 3-1 victory over Aarish Shaikh.
The youngest age group champions also impressed with their performances. Claire George secured the Girls Under 9 title after defeating Swara Gude 3-0, while Yajat Keny claimed the Boys Under 9 championship with a 3-1 win against Vivaan Rane.
