PANAJI: The MoS for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shripad Naik, said that the names of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election have not been decided, and those who claim so are spreading rumours.
“Names of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election have not been decided, and those who claim so are spreading rumours. I have begun by Lok Sabha campaign,” said Naik.
He further said that the parliamentary board will decide on the candidature about 5 months prior to polls.
“Some individuals have been claiming tickets, but I must tell you that this is not a party decision. But I am ready to accept any responsibility given to me by the party,” he added.
Naik also said that normally the seating candidate is not changed, and I have also won the North Goa Loka Sabha seat many times.
“The names for polls are not decided, and if any names are doing the rounds, these were rumours,” he added.
He said that “someone” in BJP is trying to replace him.
“I am aware that some things are happening behind my back, but my appeal to them is that you should not indulge in dirty tricks,” he claimed.
