CANACONA: The 350th Rajyaabhishek-Din (Coronation Day) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is observed by garlanding the Statute of Maratha Warrior recently installed at Chaudi-Canacona.
After garlanding the statue, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar spoke on the kingdom of Shivaji Maharaj, thought of three centuries ago as a classic example of communal harmony and development.
Tawadkar also lamented that the Shiv-premis, who has successfully built the Shiv Smarak at Chaudi with great vigour, has yet to show the same enthusiasm on the Coronation Day. “We don’t have that many presences here today, though I had expected more and more Shiv-premis to join this function,” he said.
“This day should also be observed as an auspicious occasion. Let’s take a pledge that no person should remain poor in Canacona after this 5-year term of the government”, said Tawadkar paying rich tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj after garlanding the Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Chaudi Canacona along with Dy collector Canacona Ramesh Gaonkar, Mamlatdar Canacona Manoj Korgaonkar, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Zilla Panchayat (Khola) member Shanu Velip, CMC Councilors Hemant Naik Gaonkar, Smt Amita Pagi, Narcisco Fernandes.
BJP Canacona Mandal President Vishal Desai, Ex CMC Chairperson and Shiv Premi’s Ajay Bhagat, Shirish Pai, Damodar Chari, Vikash Prabhu, The Staff of Dy Collector and Mamlatdar were also present.
Canacona Dy. Collector Ramesh Gaonkar, on Monday, stating Government has decided to celebrate ‘Coronation Day’ of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and issued an order asking the presence of the CMC Chairperson and councillors to remain present for the celebration of the Coronation Day.
