CHICALIM: The Chicalim Panchayat organised a Mhaje Ghar awareness camp to educate residents about the State government’s flagship housing scheme and assist applicants with documentation and legalisation procedures.
The programme was attended by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, Deputy Collector Pratap Rao Gaonkar, representatives of the Communidade and other government officials.
During the camp, several applicants were issued Communidade consent letters, while others received legalisation-related documents, marking progress in the implementation of the Mhaje Ghar scheme. Dedicated counters were also set up to accept fresh applications and scrutinise pending cases.
Addressing the gathering, Godinho thanked the Communidade for supporting the government’s initiative and said the cooperation between Panchayats, Communidade bodies and various government departments was ensuring the smooth implementation of the scheme.
He said the BJP government led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has been committed to taking welfare schemes to the grassroots level. Describing Mhaje Ghar as a transformative initiative, Godinho said the scheme would help families legalise their homes and resolve long-pending ownership and documentation issues.
Deputy Collector Pratap Rao Gaonkar said that most applications received from Chicalim and nearby areas involve properties situated on Communidade land. He said officials explained the complete procedure for obtaining Communidade approvals and guided applicants on the required documents and necessary clearances.
Gaonkar added that applications submitted during the camp were thoroughly scrutinised, with applicants being informed about missing or incomplete documents so that deficiencies could be rectified promptly. He said such awareness camps simplify procedures, reduce confusion and help speed up the processing of applications.
The camp received a positive response from local residents, who interacted with officials and sought clarification on eligibility, documentation and the legalisation process. Officials expressed confidence that continued coordination between the government, Panchayats and Communidade bodies would enable more eligible beneficiaries to avail the benefits of the Mhaje Ghar scheme.
