PORVORIM: Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, chaired the fifth meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee (SCDC) at the Secretariat in Porvorim to review the implementation of key initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector in Goa.
The meeting was attended by Heads of Departments from various line departments.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of the computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and discussed the formation of new multipurpose PACS, dairy cooperative societies, and fisheries cooperative societies across the state.
The committee also deliberated on the implementation of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Scheme in the cooperative sector and the establishment of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMJAKs) through PACS.
Other agenda items included expanding Common Service Centres (CSCs) through PACS, promoting Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs), and implementing the “Cooperation Among Cooperatives” campaign to strengthen collaboration within the cooperative movement.
The meeting reviewed the progress of these initiatives and discussed measures to enhance the role of cooperative institutions in delivering services and supporting rural development in Goa.
