VASCO: Vasco Police have apprehended a child in conflict with law in connection with the alleged theft of silver ornaments worth ₹1.15 lakh from Siddhivinayak Venkateshwara Sausthan at Mangoor Hill, Vasco.
According to police, the theft took place between August 14 and August 17, 2026, when an unknown person allegedly stole a silver chain, silver necklace and silver mukut that had been placed on the Ganapati idol.
Following a complaint by Prashant Narvekar, Vasco Police registered an FIR under Sections 331(3), 331(4) and 305(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A police team led by PSI Akanksh Fadte examined CCTV footage and identified a person allegedly seen visiting a jeweller with the intention of selling the stolen ornaments. The suspect was subsequently apprehended while moving through New Vaddem, Vasco.
During the investigation, police recovered the stolen ornaments and found that the apprehended person was a child in conflict with law. The child was subsequently lodged at Apna Ghar, Merces.
