USGAO: In a startling development, Ponda police filed charges against four people and detained one person in relation to a child marriage that was reported in Tisk Usgao.
The police claim that a young Karwar girl was summoned to Tisk-Usgao for marriage. After eight days or so, she discovered that her 28-year-old Chimbel spouse had been married a few months prior, and she informed her Karwar-based family of the situation. After then, the young girl was returned to Karwar.
An official complaint was officially submitted at the Karwar police station after an Anganwadi worker learned of the facts. Later, the Ponda police station received the complaint.
In response to the complaint, Ponda police filed a case, took the spouse into custody on Sunday morning, and filed charges against four other people: two residents of Tisk-Usgao, one from Karwar, and one from Haveri, Karnataka.
Inspector Vijaynath Kavlekar is directing PSI Anjali Dhulapkar’s ongoing probe.
