New Delhi: Thousands of young protesters assembled at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a rapidly growing youth-driven movement, launched a demonstration demanding action over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and concerns surrounding the CBSE’s on-screen marking system used in Class 12 board examination assessments.
The protest, led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, drew supporters carrying placards and banners from different parts of the country. Organisers said the demonstration was conducted after obtaining the necessary permissions from authorities. Ahead of the event, Dipke urged participants to maintain peace and discipline, while also encouraging them to greet police personnel with flowers as a gesture of respect.
With large crowds expected, security arrangements around Jantar Mantar were significantly strengthened. Several companies of paramilitary personnel were deployed in the area, while senior police officials monitored the situation on the ground. Authorities also kept watch on transportation patterns and online activity to ensure public order was maintained throughout the gathering.
The protest received support from noted education reformer Sonam Wangchuk, who had earlier announced his intention to join the movement if no corrective measures were taken by June 5. Wangchuk argued that the issue extends beyond recent examination controversies and reflects deeper challenges within India’s education system. Drawing on decades of work in improving schooling in remote regions, he expressed concern over the pace of educational reform and the impact of recurring controversies on students’ futures.
The Cockroach Janta Party emerged earlier this year as a satirical online campaign after remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing sparked widespread discussion. What began as an internet movement quickly evolved into a youth-focused platform advocating education reform, transparency, and accountability. The organisation has since gained remarkable traction online, attracting millions of followers across social media platforms.
Ahead of the demonstration, the group also unveiled its media team, appointing journalist Saurav Das as chief spokesperson, alongside political researcher and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka.
The protest marks the organisation’s largest public mobilisation to date and signals its growing influence among young Indians seeking reforms in the education sector.
