VASCO: Chicalim Parish Priest Fr Bolmax Pereira has strongly criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for attempting to link his situation with that of Subhash Velingkar.
Fr Bolmax emphasized that the two issues are entirely different and accused the Chief Minister of misleading the public and manipulating the matter of religious sentiments and punishments.
Addressing the situation, Fr Bolmax clarified that he was neither arrested nor was there an arrest warrant issued against him.
He further stated that he was granted anticipatory bail by the court, but there was no valid ground for arrest, and thus the police never arrested him.
Additionally, he highlighted that the false FIR registered against him at Vasco Police Station was quashed and set aside by the honourable high court on April 12, upholding his freedom of speech.
Fr Bolmax urged the Chief Minister to address the real perpetrators who attempted to incite communal discord and not equate his situation with that of Velingkar.
He emphasized that Velingkar’s case is a clear attempt to manipulate facts to incite communal disharmony, which is entirely different from his own case.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had assured action against Subhash Velingkar, drawing a parallel with the action initiated against Fr Bolmax Pereira in Sancoale. Sawant emphasized that everyone would be given the same justice and urged the public not to create communal tension in the state.
