DABOLIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated several infrastructure projects worth several crores in the Dabolim constituency during the birthday celebrations of Panchayat, Industries and Transport Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho.
The Chief Minister digitally inaugurated around eight development projects, including Phase III of the Joggers Park, the Chicalim Street Food Court, beautification works at Chicalim and Vaddem Beach, the second phase of the Bogmalo Panchayat Ghar, reconstruction and renovation of the Chicalim Panchayat Ghar, a futsal ground at New Vaddem, beautification of the Grade Separator Flyover, the Bogmalo Church retaining wall, and the proposed four-lane flyover from MES College Junction to Bogmalo Junction on NH-566 along with a four-lane vehicular underpass at Queeny Nagar Junction.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sawant praised Mauvin Godinho’s contribution to Goa’s development, describing him as one of the state’s most experienced and visionary leaders. He said Godinho had played a key role in the development of both the Cortalim and Dabolim constituencies, earning the trust of voters who elected him seven times to the Legislative Assembly.
The Chief Minister also commended Godinho’s performance as Transport, Industries and Panchayat Minister, saying he had introduced key reforms in transport, strengthened the ease of doing business through the Industries Department and worked to improve rural infrastructure across Goa.
Dr Sawant said many of the projects initiated under Godinho’s leadership were designed with a long-term vision to meet the needs of future generations and support Goa’s development over the coming decades.
Speaking on the occasion, Mauvin Godinho thanked the people of Dabolim, party workers and supporters for their continued faith in him. He said every achievement in his political career belonged to the people who had stood by him throughout his journey.
Highlighting a major ongoing infrastructure initiative, Godinho said the ₹650-crore elevated flyover project aimed at diverting heavy traffic from the Mormugao Port would see significant progress in the coming months. He announced that the Dabolim stretch of the project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
The event, held at the Parade Ground opposite Joggers Park in Dabolim, was attended by ministers, MLAs, former legislators, industrialists and hundreds of supporters. Cultural programmes and public celebrations marked the occasion, which also showcased the government’s development plans for the constituency.
