The CM’s stubbornness in refusing to accept that there are many Goans left to take the first dose of vaccine could cost the citizens dearly.
The confidence to continue this rhetoric time and again of 100 per cent achievement needs to be appreciated.
Be it Open Defecation Free, Har Ghar Jal or the first dose vaccination, CM Sawant is always in the race to achieve the rank no matter how hollow his claim is.
It is also shocking how the BJP senior leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be taken for a jolly good ride with such fake claims. Isn’t any verification done before the PMO tweet congratulating anyone for an achievement?

On Saturday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant graduated to another level of lying when he told the Prime Minister of India that Goa would achieve the 100 % second dose vaccination by October 31.
The Chief Minister has to be rewarded for his courage to speak a white lie before the Prime Minister. You need exceptional talent to say this kind of lie to the head of the country.
The CM has sold this lie to some media persons, who have blindly accepted the “white lie”. But the 100 per cent claim is far from reality.
Does the CM even know how many Goans are yet to be administered the first dose?
The answer is many, which he does not want to believe or is feigning ignorance. Almost two lakhs of migrant workers from neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka, besides Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttarakhand, have taken the first dose.
The CM’s stubbornness in refusing to accept that there are many Goans left to take the first dose of vaccine could cost the citizens dearly.

The media has exposed the CMs claims on Har Ghar Jal and ODF to the core. So why has the BJP top brass not taken any action against the CM? Or the BJP also wants the CM to make such fake claims.
For Goans, there isn’t an iota of doubt the 100 per cent vaccination of the first dose is far from achieved. As we say in Sports – the statistics can be misleading. You cannot just blindly believe the stats.
The Union Health Ministry must look into exactly who has been vaccinated, Goans or non-Goans?
We understand the CM is in the race to always come first to impress his bosses, the Mota Bhai – Amit Shah, the Prime Minister or BJP National president JP Nadda.
After Gujarat and Chattisgarh saga, CM is insecure about his chair, and hence he seems to be making every effort to save his position.
But such misleading and misguiding statements can be detrimental to Goa’s fight against COVID19.
Such claims are great for media consumption, but it can actually hurt the State badly, experts believe.
