PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a detailed inquiry into the death of an undergraduate student from Mapusa, who was later found dead after a police case was registered against him over alleged dumping of garbage along a roadside at Gaunswaddo.
The Chief Minister stated that the government will conduct a comprehensive investigation to understand the circumstances that led to the incident and to establish the complete sequence of events prior to it.
The student had come under scrutiny after a video purportedly showing him disposing of waste in a public place circulated widely on social media. Acting on the footage, police registered an FIR against him under relevant provisions related to public health and waste disposal.
Following the case registration, he was reportedly summoned by police and served a legal notice. He was later found dead, with authorities currently probing the matter and examining all possible angles.
Sawant said the inquiry will cover all aspects connected to the case and assured that the facts will be thoroughly verified.
