PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed officials to examine the demands raised by Karapur-Sarvan villagers over the H.A. Abhinandan Lodha project and explore possible solutions at the government level.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with the protesting villagers, who described the interaction as their “best meeting ever” and said the discussion was positive.
Sawant said the government cannot immediately stop a project, but directed officials to undertake a detailed legal study of the issues raised by the villagers and take a decision accordingly.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the North Goa Collector to convene a meeting with the concerned departmental officers and extend all possible assistance to the villagers as per law.
The protesters said they would now wait for two days for the authorities to take the necessary action on their demands.
The villagers have been opposing the H.A. Abhinandan Lodha project at Karapur and have been seeking action on their concerns related to the project.
The latest meeting with the Chief Minister has given the protesters some hope of a government-level resolution, with the authorities now expected to examine the issues and take further action based on the legal and departmental review.
