PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has directed the Goa Police to take swift action and apprehend those suspected of involvement in the firing incident targeting a businessman.
Reacting to the incident, Sawant said that such an incident had taken place for the first time during his tenure as Chief Minister and asserted that the government and police department would not spare those involved.
“For the first time during my tenure as Chief Minister, an incident of firing at a businessman has taken place. The government and the police department will not spare such incidents or those involved in the firing under any circumstances,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister said that the exact reasons behind the firing would become clear as the investigation progresses. He added that instructions have already been issued to the police to apprehend the suspects at the earliest.
Police are expected to intensify their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the firing and identify those responsible.
