CANACONA – A jubilant Canacona Municipal Council(CMC) Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar gave credit to the entire municipal team and GSUDA for being the Awardee in the Indian Swatchta League (ISL) of Swacchta Bharat Mission
Announcing he himself, along with the Chief Officer of CMC, is going to New Delhi to receive the ISL Award, Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar said the Canacona team deserved the Award for taking up the cleanliness drive in the right earnest and logical results for a continuous movement for Garbage Free Cities in the Country (Swatch Sehar Samvad).
It may be recalled that Canacona Team is shortlisted for an Awardee for ISL in the below 15k Population/Category, while Vasco da Gama is selected for ‘Special Mention’ in the 50K-1L population category, amongst the over 1850 cities/participation in the country.
Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar and Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar will be part of the delegation to Delhi from Goa to receive the Award on Friday at the Swacch Sehar Samvad and Azzadi@75 Swatchh Survekshan Awards.
An excited Chairperson Naikgaunkar addressing the media on Tuesday said the overwhelming response to the cleanliness drive held on 17th Sept in Coastal municipal areas was the turning point and thanked all the participants in the drive, including Govt Higher Secondary School, Shri Mallikarjun and Chetan Manju Desai College, St. Thereza of Jesus Hr Sec. School and High School, Shri Mallikarjun Hr Secondary School, besides the CMC Chief Officer and municipal Staff, Dy. Collector and Mamlatdar Staff, Canacona Police, Patnem Councillor Shubham Komarpant, and Tahrir Councillor Gandesh Madgaonkar, not only for their participation but also contribute to the Cleanliness Drive to make Canacona Garbage Free.
‘I am not only overjoyed but also feel elated that not only out of 36 beach Coasts who participated in our State but out of over 1850 Cities in the country, our Canacona is awarded in the Swacch Bharat League(ISL) in below 15K population category. It’s a great honour to all Canconcars ‘, Naikgaunkar said, addressing the media.
Naikgaunkar also informed He himself, along with Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar, will attend the valedictory session held in New Delhi on 30th to receive the Award at the Swacchh Sehar Samvad and Azzadi@75 Swatchh Survekshan Awards presentation.
Naikgaunkar also informed with this Award, the responsibility of all of us has increased to keep the municipal areas clean and tidy ever after now. And as they say, charity begins at home; I appeal to each one of the residents as also to all the councillors to keep the momentum for maintaining their sorroundings and Wards clean’ Naikgaunkar.
