CANACONA: Stating all the three promises made to the residents/citizens of Chaudi Ward have been fulfilled, ward councillor and CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gawkar says he is now looking forward to bringing more developments at the commercial hub of Chaudi.
The need road to Mataji Mandir at Xeller has been asphalted with the hot mix at the cost of Rs.10 lakhs, the construction works at the sewerage/gutter drainage, which is in bad condition at Div Drops, is underway at the cost of Rs.14 lakhs, and Now this road is going to be smooth and inferences –free for the small vehicles. The much and long-awaited Renovation of the Municipal Garden at the centre of Chavadi town has been completed.
The Garden beautification works have been entrusted to Forest Department, who have beautified the garden with ornamental and flower-bearing plants and trees.
‘I had promised the citizens of Chawdi Ward to do these works while campaigning for the Municipal election. All these works have now been achieved and virtually completed.
Further I have now set my eyes on the beautification of the parapet from Chaudi to St. Thereza of Jesus Church, with Pavers, Steel railings, etc. and the renovation of the old fish market corridor.’
“For the last 24 years, the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) has been sending letters to the municipality asking to review the rentals on the operating Leases. But, the concerned chairpersons fear the move will upset the voters aere avoid the rent hike.
Due to this fear, the rent hike was not started. But during my tenure, the revenue of the municipality has been increased by starting the work of collecting the increased rent. Following the increase in the revenue of the municipality, now CMC has bought a School Bus to Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya in Charrasta at the cost of around 20 lakh rupees. This is the first example in the Goa municipality that a municipality can also provide a bus to the school’.
Naikgaunkar also said, ‘the municipality does not have to reach out to the DMA seeking funds to pay wages and salary to the workers and staff, concerned respectively.’
