PANAJI: Justice V K Jadhav led one man commission of inquiry probing land grabbing cases in Goa has directed the Special Public Prosecutor to procure all the investigation papers from the Special Investigation Team(SIT) and place them before the commission in batches of 5 cases.
The first batch of 5 cases are to be placed before the Commission on June 26.
Commission has directed to produce the lot of next five folders, after the first lot of folders is returned back to the SIT in 2 days time.
Incidentally, the commission had issued an order yesterday that hearings in some of the cases will take place on a daily basis till June 27, mainly for submitting the evidence by the accused person, complainant or victims.
“In event of not filing the pursis of evidence till 27 June, it will be considered that the party is not willing to lead any evidence. On 28 June onwards, the enquiry will be posted for final arguments,” the commission had said.
However, commission pointed out in its todays order that none of the advocates were present.
Meanwhile, mastermind Muhhamad Suhail Shafi was arrested for the seventh time, soon after he walked out of jail on getting bail for the previous offense.
The Mapusa Court had granted him conditional bail for the sixth offense against him but hours later , the SIT arrested him in yet another land scam. “He has been remanded to four days of police custody for investigation. This is his seventh arrest,” Valsan said.
