PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar has raised concerns over the proposed promotions at the Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd., alleging that the process lacks transparency and fairness.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Panjikar claimed that the Corporation is set to issue promotion orders to three Supervisors and one Assistant Marketing Officer on August 3, allegedly bypassing senior employees and ignoring established procedures.
He alleged that the promotions are being processed without a transparent selection process, interviews or providing all eligible employees an equal opportunity to compete.
Panjikar said it was unfair that employees with nearly two decades of service were reportedly being overlooked while those who joined later were allegedly being favoured. He claimed such actions would demoralise employees and undermine the principles of natural justice.
He also highlighted that around 230 employees of the Corporation have continued to work on temporary status for several years, with many having joined as early as 2006. According to him, their demands for regularisation and implementation of the 7th Pay Commission remain pending.
Panjikar urged the Managing Director of the Goa State Horticultural Corporation and the Goa Government to keep the proposed promotions in abeyance and conduct a transparent, rule-based promotion process that gives all eligible employees an equal opportunity.
He further demanded that the Corporation address the long-pending issues of regularisation of temporary employees and implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, stating that the Congress Party stands with the aggrieved employees in their demand for a fair and transparent process.
