“There is a need for starting Maritime Degree Based Courses In Goa for bright Goan students. The Maritime School at Britona, under Captain of Ports, conducts courses for Inland Vessels only,” said Captain James Braganza.
He further said that the bid documents are being prepared by the PPP Division for the re-development of Maritime School, Britona, and additional Courses are included in the bid documents comprising Courses for foreign going Vessels.
Captain, however, said that Maritime Degree Courses cannot be conducted in the Maritime School due to the long duration of the Courses and constraints on the space and infrastructure on the Campus.
He said that the aim of the maritime school is to provide maritime education on the lines of global maritime institutes.
“The school will follow international best practices in terms of curriculum and other standards,” he added.
