BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the alleged theft of copper bars worth approximately ₹19.13 lakh from the DI Pipe Project Site of Vedanta Iron & Steel Limited at Amona, Goa.
According to the complaint filed by Tarun Kumar Jain, authorised signatory of Vedanta Iron & Steel Limited, Pit Iron Division-II, the theft took place between March 12 and July 16, 2026.
The complaint stated that unknown persons allegedly stole 37 copper bars weighing 25.8 kg each and three copper bars weighing 80.6 kg each, with the total quantity reported to be approximately 1,196 kg. The stolen material was received and stored at the company’s DI Pipe project site.
The theft caused an estimated financial loss of ₹19.13 lakh to Vedanta Iron & Steel Limited.
During the investigation, police gathered information from various sources and identified a suspected accused, Udaibhan, son of Ram Nagan, aged 29, a resident of Umarpur Akbarpur in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Udaibhan was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
Further investigation is underway under the supervision of PSI Amarnath Palni of Bicholim Police Station.
