CANSAULIM: A family dispute turned violent in Cansaulim after a man allegedly attacked a couple with a knife inside their rented room, leaving both injured before fleeing the scene.
According to Verna Police, the incident occurred at around 11 am on July 4, 2026, at Madalem, Cansaulim. The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Priyanka Jayswal, a native of Gopinathpur, Bihar, who is currently residing in Cansaulim.
Police said the accused, identified as Akash Kumar, also a native of Gopinathpur, Bihar, allegedly arrived at the couple’s rented room carrying a knife and threatened to end his life by cutting his wrist.
When Priyanka’s husband, Jitendra Kumar Jayswal, tried to calm him down and asked him to leave the room, the accused allegedly became enraged and attacked Jitendra with the knife, inflicting a bleeding injury on the left side of his neck.
Priyanka rushed to save her husband but also sustained bleeding injuries during the attack. The couple attempted to overpower the accused, who managed to escape from the spot.
Verna Police have registered an FIR (Crime No. 76/2026) under Sections 109 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar.
