CHINCHINIM: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Velim, Engr. Cruz Silva, has demanded the immediate appointment of a full-time doctor at the Chinchinim Primary Health Centre (PHC), stating that the absence of a regular doctor is causing hardship to residents seeking medical care.
During a visit to the PHC, Silva interacted with patients and local residents to assess the healthcare facilities. He said the most common grievance raised was the non-availability of a full-time doctor at the health centre.
Silva said residents of Chinchinim and nearby villages are being forced to travel long distances for basic medical treatment due to the vacant post.
“The people of Chinchinim and neighbouring areas deserve accessible and quality healthcare. A Primary Health Centre cannot function effectively without a full-time doctor. The government must act immediately to fill this vacancy,” he said.
The Velim MLA also pointed out that the ongoing monsoon season has led to a rise in cases of viral fever, dengue, malaria and other seasonal illnesses, increasing the burden on government health facilities.
He urged the Health Department and the Health Minister to resolve the issue without further delay to ensure timely medical treatment for the people.
Silva assured residents that he would continue to pursue the matter with the Health Department until a permanent solution is found and adequate medical staff are appointed at the Chinchinim PHC.
