DABOLIM: Dabolim Airport is banking on continued passenger movement and additional winter connectivity, with airport director Lt Akash Deep stating that the airport is currently handling around 85 flights and 13,000 passengers daily and generating an annual profit of about Rs 135 crore.
Addressing concerns over Dabolim’s future amid Goa’s dual-airport operations, Lt Akash Deep said there was “nothing to worry” about the airport’s functioning, pointing to its current traffic and financial performance.
“We are handling around 85 flights per day with a passenger movement of around 13,000. The airport is making around Rs 135 crore profit,” he said.
The airport is also set to receive a seasonal connectivity boost, with Aeroflot expected to operate 10 additional flights during the winter period.
Another potential development is the entry of Fly91 at Dabolim. According to the airport director, office space has already been provided to the regional carrier and the airline is in a position to begin operations from the airport.
His remarks came during the launch of the Yatri Seva Abhiyan, organised by the Airport Authority of India to focus on passenger services and awareness of facilities at Dabolim.
The campaign also featured Goan cultural programmes and craft-related activities, organised in association with the Tourism Department, as part of efforts to give arriving passengers an introduction to the state’s culture.
With Dabolim continuing to record significant daily traffic, the airport’s focus is now on sustaining passenger services while adding connectivity during the upcoming winter season.
