Panaji: Dayanand High School in Chorao, Goa, has established its first Interact Club in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Panaji Central and the Chorao Education Society, marking a significant step towards promoting youth leadership, community service and the holistic development of students.
The newly established club aims to provide students with opportunities to develop leadership qualities, strengthen their sense of social responsibility and contribute meaningfully to their school and the wider community. Students were formally inducted as members during the charter and installation ceremony.
The Interact Club will serve as a platform for students to build essential life skills, including communication, teamwork, problem solving, decision making and project management. Members will participate in community service projects, environmental initiatives, awareness campaigns and other collaborative activities. These programmes are expected to encourage volunteering, nurture empathy and help students become confident and responsible citizens.
Capt. Xavier Colaco of Ganpat University, Goa, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and keynote speaker. He delivered an informative session introducing students to the newly established GIME institute and highlighting career opportunities in the maritime sector. His address familiarised students with emerging professional pathways and encouraged them to explore opportunities beyond conventional fields of study.
The ceremony was attended by Premanand Mahambre, Chairman of the Chorao Education Society; Yutika Kamat, President of the Rotary Club of Panaji Central; Tania Shirodkar, Club Secretary; and Nickton Dias, Past President, along with other Rotary Club members.
The initiative will receive continued guidance and mentorship from the Rotary Club of Panaji Central, with support from Anne James, Headmistress of Dayanand High School, and Swapnil Raikar, Interact Club Advisor.
The establishment of the club reflects the shared commitment of the Chorao Education Society and the Rotary Club of Panaji Central to nurturing young talent through practical learning, leadership development and community engagement. It is expected to create opportunities for students to identify local needs, work collectively on solutions and develop the skills required to become future leaders.
