PANAJI: Don Bosco College, Panjim, secured the overall runners up position in both the men’s and women’s categories at the Inter Collegiate Taekwondo Championship organised by Goa University at the Peddem Indoor Hall in Mapusa.
The men’s championship was held on August 18 and 19, followed by the women’s competition on August 20 and 21. With 83 students competing in the men’s event and 85 in the women’s category from colleges across Goa, the championships featured intense competition and showcased skill, discipline and sportsmanship.
DBC Panjim fielded four athletes in the men’s competition, with two securing medals. Rajvir Yadav won the gold medal in the up to 74 kg category, while Aditya Patil claimed silver in the above 87 kg category.
The women’s team had seven participants, with six earning medals. Nayna Sahu secured gold in the up to 62 kg category. Shweta Basbire won silver in the same weight category, while Dhanashri Naik claimed silver in the up to 57 kg category. Priyanka Vishwakarma added a bronze in the up to 57 kg category.
Ashvita Quadros won bronze in the up to 73 kg category, while Chhabirani Dhal secured another bronze in the above 73 kg category.
Overall, DBC Panjim finished with an impressive tally of two gold, three silver and three bronze medals, earning the runners up position in both the men’s and women’s championships.
The strong performance underlined the college’s growing sporting credentials and reflected its continued focus on developing athletic talent alongside academic excellence.
