“Directions have been given to the DCF south to process the file for the road work on Karmal Ghat on top priority. Along with the forest, we must also ensure the safety of the people,” said Rane
He further said that the work has been pursued by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar; the road is an accident-prone area; the lives of the people cannot be compromised.
“Hence, strict directions have been issued to the Forest Department that there will be no work order for stopping the work and that PWD must be allowed to carry out the work on a fast track,” he added
Rane said that the Forest Department will provide total support for this work; directions have been issued, and the work will continue.
Last week a person from Andhra Pradesh who had come to Goa from Andheri lost his life at this turn while going back via Palolem.
The Forest Department officials had stopped the road widening work which began on Wednesday stating that no permissions were granted for the same.
On Thursday, highway authority’s engineers visited the site and present locals agreed for the 1.5 meters tall concrete wall to be erected.
