PONDA: Despite stiff opposition to the mobile tower in Government Primary School Building campus, the tower has been erected on school premises.
The parents strongly condemned the erection of a tower where children are learning education.
They said they had given a memorandum to all government offices, including Chief Minister.
“Around fifty students learn in this School, including Anganwadi and special students of Lokvishwas Pratishtan. The PTA of Mahalaxmi Highschool has also opposed the tower coming close to its school premises,” parents said.
It is learnt that the tower has been erected and will start operating in the next two to three days. Parents had warned to remove children from school, fearing harmful radiation.
The locals said despite so many people showing readiness to offer land for the tower, it is erected on government primary school premises. They said the government is not bothered about the safety of children.
A local Omkar Fadte said the Parent Teachers Association of Mahalaxmi Highschool and its Primary School has submitted the memorandum for shifting of mobile towar300 Meters away from Government Primary School (GPS) campus at Talavalim and the Copies of the memorandum are sent to the Chief Minister and education minister Pramod Sawant, local MLA and Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, Director of Health Panjim, Director of Education, Sarpanch Wadi Talavalim, Deputy Collector North Ponda and ADEI Ponda.
