PORVORIM: With the COVID19 cases on the rise once again, the Director General of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that the police department will strictly implement the mask and social distancing norms.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Meena said that the COVID19 is active once again and there need to be strict rules.
“We are contemplating strict implementation of wearing mask and social distancing. We want to make people aware of the issue. I have asked the police force to monitor the market area and at least ask people and tourists to wear mask especially airport, railway stations and market area,” he said.
He said after the COVID19 curve went downward, people had become relaxed so now the system has to be reactivated.
“All the teams also need to reactivated. The concerned departments have to play their roles. We need to penalise people for not following norms,” he said.
On drugs, he said, the Goa police is following with xero tolerance police.
“Be it the ANC, Crime Branch or local police stations, we are registering the cases whenever we get any information,” he said.
