SANGUEM: Members of the Dhangar community have intensified their demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation, warning of a mass agitation if the government fails to take concrete steps on the long-pending issue.
A meeting on the ST reservation demand was held on July 26 at Devre Netravali and Dhangarwada in Sanguem taluka, where a large number of community members participated. The gathering witnessed significant attendance by women and senior citizens, reflecting widespread support for the demand.
Speakers at the meeting said the community has become increasingly vocal over the delay in granting ST reservation and asserted that the demand must be fulfilled under any circumstances. They expressed disappointment over the lack of progress on the issue and warned that if the government continues to remain inactive, members of the community would consider resigning from all government-appointed and political party posts.
The community also indicated that preparations are underway to launch an agitation in support of the ST reservation demand. Participants reiterated their resolve with the slogan, “One Mission – Dhangar ST Reservation,” stating that the movement would continue until their long-standing demand is fulfilled.
