MOLLEM: The Dhangar community’s campaign for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status is gaining momentum, with the community stepping up its statewide mobilisation through village-level meetings and Taluka-level Melavas.
A large gathering was held at Mollem as part of the Taluka-Level Dhangar Melava, bringing members of the community together to discuss and strengthen the ongoing movement for ST status.
According to organisers, the campaign has so far reached 52 villages through corner meetings, besides three Taluka-level Melavas. The meetings are being used to build awareness, mobilise families and create a common platform for the community across Goa.
The movement is now set to enter a wider phase, with Taluka-level Melavas planned across all talukas of the state. Organisers said the objective is to consolidate the community’s strength and ensure that the demand for ST status remains firmly on the public agenda.
The Mollem gathering also reflected the community’s continued resolve to pursue its demand through democratic means. Organisers maintained that the mobilisation will continue until the long-pending demand for ST status is addressed.
With the campaign expanding from village meetings to larger Taluka-level gatherings, the Dhangar community is now seeking to turn its grassroots mobilisation into a coordinated statewide movement.
