PONDA: After Dhavlim farmers alleged cheating by sewerage officials, the Revolutionary Goans members led by Premanand Gaude, Shailesh Gaude and Kavlem locals today protested against cheating by SIDCGL office at Daag, Ponda and grilled AE Pradeep Gaude for two hours for not fulfilling promises to Dhavlim Farmers while acquiring their land for 15 MLD STP.
Locals warned to stage agitation if STP is inaugurated without giving justice to a farmer whose land was acquired for STP.
Dhavlim Kavlem Farmer Tukaram Kelu Gaude today said he and his two brothers sacrificed their agricultural land for a sewerage plant.
They owned a total of 3200 sq. mts of land where STP is built and is now scheduled for inauguration.
The Sewerage Corporation obtained irrevocable NOC for them for STP by promising two jobs and one hall. Since the beginning, the Gaudes had rejected compensation and were ready to offer NOC only on the above condition. The sewerage officials visited their house several times to get their land for the project, but they are now ignoring his demand once they got NOC.
Gaude alleged his land was grabbed for the Construction of 15 MLD STP on condition of providing two jobs and one hall, but it’s six years now, and their sewerage plant is built and ready for the inauguration but failed to fulfil the promise.
Farmers says he had never asked for compensation but had given the land only on one condition that sewerage officials would provide two government jobs and one hall of one thousand people sitting capacity.
“Then PWD Minister and Local MLA Sudin Dhavlikar assured us that the sewerage engineer Pradeep Gaude and then GSIDCGL would look into his demand; however, now, as STP is ready, nobody is listening to our demand. The Chief Minister must look into the matter.,” demanded Gaude
AE Pradeep Gaude at the SIDCGL said he didn’t assure any jobs but was ready to provide compensation.
He said he would inform the farmer’s demand senior official as seven owners of the land identified for sewerage plant, and four owners had accepted compensation.
Among the three other co-owners, two are also ready for compensation, but one still needs to be ready to accept compensation.
However, he agreed that the sewerage department promised to construct a hall for one farmer; however, it needs a clear title.
