PANAJI: The Goa government has extended the Diamond Jubilee Government Investment for Technical Education Scheme (DJ-GIFT) to cover students enrolling in engineering and hotel management courses for the 2025–26 academic year.
As per a recent notification from the Directorate of Technical Education, the scheme will continue to benefit students admitted in the previous academic years—2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25—under the same base fee structure and eligibility conditions.
The scheme will now also be available to new students joining in 2025–26, provided their family’s annual income for 2024–25 does not exceed ₹12 lakh.
For 2025–26 admissions, the base annual fee covered under the scheme will be ₹30,000 for Diploma in Engineering courses and ₹75,000 for Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. For students entering the first year of degree programs, the scheme will support fees of ₹1.10 lakh in 2025–26, increasing annually to ₹1.20 lakh in 2026–27, ₹1.30 lakh in 2027–28, and ₹1.40 lakh in 2028–29.
With tuition fees in private colleges often reaching ₹2 lakh annually, eligible students under the DJ-GIFT scheme will only be required to pay ₹1 lakh, while the state government will cover the remaining cost.
The extension of the scheme underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to making technical education more accessible and affordable for Goan students.
