PANAJI: The District Magistrate, North Goa has prohibited the digging of roads, road shoulders, lanes, thoroughfares or any part thereof without prior written permission from the District Magistrate.
The order, issued in view of the monsoon season, has been made effective from June 3, 2026, and will remain in force until October 1, 2026.
According to the order, unauthorised digging of roads during the monsoon can pose serious risks to pedestrians, motorists and the general public.
The administration has cited dangers including water accumulation, skidding on debris and electric shocks caused by snapped electrical wires as reasons for restricting road digging during the period.
Any agency, contractor or individual intending to undertake road digging in North Goa will therefore require written permission from the District Magistrate before carrying out such work.
