PERNEM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology has seized eight stacks of illegally extracted river sand, totaling 21.5 cubic meters, during an inspection at Keri, Pernem.
The illegal sand extraction was discovered as part of the Directorate’s routine monitoring efforts to curb unauthorized mining activities in the area. Authorities have taken immediate action to seize the sand, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the illegal extraction.
The Directorate has reiterated its commitment to enforcing laws aimed at protecting Goa’s natural resources, emphasizing the importance of adhering to regulations concerning riverbed mining.
