PANAJI: On a vibrant day in 2025, the play area of Don Bosco College Panjim transformed into a kaleidoscope of characters as the department of English, in collaboration with the Books and Beyond Literary Committee, hosted the highly anticipated Cosplay Day 2025. This event was a celebration of creativity and storytelling, where students embodied their favorite characters from various realms of fiction.
The Cosplay Day was meticulously organized into two categories: Individual Cosplay and Team Cosplay. Participants showcased their talents by delivering monologues and acting out scenes that brought their chosen characters to life. The judges, assistant professors Arantxa Rangel and Leisha Sequeira, evaluated the performances based on dialogue delivery, character portrayal, and overall impact.
In the team category, the winners were Mario Pimenta, Sharvi Dhond, Poonam Bind, and Ebenezer Rajamanickam from the TYBAMC batch. They impressed the judges with their cohesive and engaging performance. The runners-up were Charles D’Souza, Joshua Vaz, Janice Fernandes, Mekisha Noronha, and Veloshka Pereira from the FYBCom batch.
For individual cosplayers, Charles D’Souza of FYBCOM took home the Best Male Cosplay award for his convincing portrayal of Woody from Toy Story. Davina Paradesi of FYBA won the Best Female Cosplay award for her captivating embodiment of Wednesday Addams.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, a quick round of movie and music trivia was conducted, with spot prizes awarded to Mevish Ali, who cosplayed as Draco Malfoy, Roshni of SYBAMC, and Veloshka Pereira.
The event was hosted by Ishrat Sartur of FYBA, who herself cosplayed as Little Red Riding Hood. She concluded the event by announcing the winners and expressing her gratitude to all participants. As a token of appreciation, the judges were presented with gifts by assistant professors Alisha Nicole Carvalho and Nasween Beig from the Department of English.
The audience was thoroughly entertained, cheering on the participants and singing along to popular songs while the scores were being tallied. The event was a resounding success, highlighting the students’ passion, talent, and dedication to their craft.
