Panjim: Don Bosco H.S., Panjim began its campaign at the Group Priority State Sub Junior Basketball Championship 2026 with a convincing 26-11 victory over Our Lady of Grace H.S., Bicholim (C) at the Don Bosco Oratory in Panjim.
Don Bosco controlled the contest from the start, racing to a 10-0 lead in the opening quarter. They continued their dominance in the second period, adding four points while restricting their opponents to two. OLGHS responded in the third quarter with a 5-4 advantage, but Don Bosco regained control in the final period to close out the match 26-11.
Arjun Barbosa led the scoring for Don Bosco with 12 points, while Joshua D Cunha contributed six. Rasool Shaikh was the leading scorer for OLGHS (C), finishing with eight points.
In another match, St. Brittos, Mapusa defeated OLGHS, Bicholim (B) 9-2. St. Brittos established control early, taking the first two quarters 2-0 each. The third quarter ended 2-2 before St. Brittos added three more points in the final period. Kurt Antao was their top scorer with four points, while Nidhish Falkar scored two for OLGHS (B).
Siolim Basketeers also secured a strong 25-12 win over OLGHS, Bicholim (A). Siolim led 6-2 after the opening quarter and extended their advantage with a 7-6 second period. A dominant 10-0 third quarter effectively settled the contest. Cristiano Mascarenhas top-scored with 12 points, supported by Aditya Hadfadkar with four.
The championship, organised by Aliens Basketeers in association with the Goa Basketball Association, features promising U-14 basketball talent from across Goa.
