QUEPEM: The final year students from Don Bosco College of Agriculture, Sulcorna-Quepem, deputed in Cotigao Village and conducted a demonstration on Oyster Mushroom Production in Kuskem Ward of Khotigao Village in Canacona.
This demonstration was held for the women of three Self Help Groups, namely Butnath S.H.G., Sadana S.H.G. and Manthan S.H.G.
They showed them the methodology for Oyster mushroom production by highlighting the scientific reasons underlying each step and also emphasized the precautions to be taken to avoid contamination or attack by maggots.
They also gave hands-on training to the gathered women to give them practical experience of it. So, they can earn through mushroom production as Kuskem is visited by many local and foreign tourists, who could be their probable customers.
The RAWEP students comprising Miss. Cerilda Pereira, Miss Navya Venkata Lakshmi Gaddam, Miss .Komal Gawde, Miss Sri Poojitha Maddineni, Miss. Suvidha Gaonkar and Miss Ria Vaz conducted the demonstration under the guidance of Dr Suresh Kunkalikar (Principal, DBCA), Prof. Rajan Shelke (RAWEP coordinator) & the Programme officers of RAWEP Dr Gourish Karanjalker and Dr Rachana Kolombkar.
