VASCO: Union Minister of State for shipping and ports Shripad Naik on Monday appealed to the Goans not to oppose good beneficial projects for the sake of opposing
Naik was speaking to reporters after a program of tree plantation organised by the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) on account of World environment day.
Naik also said that the Government would prioritise Human safety first and take projects within the limits of the law and with the least pollution.
“We have to take care of our environment to give future generations a good life. O appeal to all the people to plant trees on land available in and around our houses for the sake of a good Environment” said Naik.
Naik said that the Government prioritised Human safety and would take all steps to ensure minimum pollution.
“We will take all precautions to take development projects within the law’s ambit and causing the least pollution, especially in the MPA. While we have to take development, we nut not oppose every project just for the sake of opposing it,” he said.
He said we have seen a trend where people have just begun opposing every project which could have otherwise benefitted the state’s economy and created many jobs.
“We need to take developmental projects to enhance electrical power, and I appeal to the Goans to first study the project and its benefit for future generations before they start to oppose the projects just for the sake of it. Some projects are required to boost industrialisation that will increase the economy of the state and create jobs,” said Naik
