MARGAO: Artists have called for the institution’s immediate reopening and the restoration of its administrative and catering services, denouncing the “political manoeuvres” being carried out under the guise of the Kala Academy issue.
Renowned artist Ravindra Amonkar chaired the gathering of almost 500 artists from a range of disciplines, including theater, music, bhajan, ghumat, folk arts, and art examiners, writers, directors, and art enthusiasts at the Menezes Braganza Hall.
A temporary committee led by the artists has been established to address the issues ailing the KA, which has been closed for an extended period of time.
Amonkar claimed that certain individuals were attempting to discredit Minister Govind Gaude by posing a number of petty and harassing queries concerning Kala Academy and the Department of Art and Culture.
“This is incorrect, and concrete action should be taken to achieve any necessary development,” Amonkar declared.
The community’s unwavering faith in the government, especially in Gaude and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, was articulated by another artist, Pravin Gaonkar.
“We are sure that the government will take the appropriate actions to resolve our concerns and guarantee the smooth operation of the Kala Academy because we have complete faith in them,” Gaonkar stated.
