Panaji: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued six persons from drowning, traced four missing children, and provided medical assistance to one injured beachgoer along Goa’s coastline over the weekend.
At Ashwem Beach, two women from Pune, aged 23 and 24, were rescued after losing balance in the water. In a separate incident at the same beach, a 20-year-old man from Taleigao was saved after being carried into deeper waters by a flash rip current.
At Calangute Beach, a 27-year-old man from Hyderabad was rescued after being caught in a strong rip current. He was assessed on site and found to be stable.
At Baga Beach, a five-year-old girl from Karnataka who had gone missing was located and safely reunited with her father. At the same location, a 35-year-old man from Maharashtra sustained a deep cut on his foot after stepping on broken glass. Lifesavers administered first aid and handed him over to emergency services.
From January 2026 till date, 10 beachgoers have been injured due to glass litter on Goa’s beaches, including three foreign nationals and seven Indian citizens.
At Colva Beach, two missing children—a four-year-old girl from Vasco and a five-year-old girl from Sanvordem—were traced and reunited with their families after due verification.
A double rescue was carried out at Betalbatim Beach, where two women aged 16 and 38 from Cortalim were brought safely ashore after struggling in the water.
At Hollant Beach, a five-year-old boy from Vasco found alone in the water was rescued and reunited with his parents.
All incidents were handled promptly by Drishti Marine lifesavers, ensuring safety along the coastline.
