BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have registered a case against a bus driver following a road accident in Sankhalim that left a 65-year-old woman seriously injured.
According to police, the accident occurred on June 1 at around 6.15 pm near the Government Primary School at Gauthan, Sankhalim. The accused, identified as Deelip Gopal Parab, a resident of Tambulwada, Ladfe, Bicholim, was allegedly driving a Tata bus (GA-04-T-4829) from Karapur-Sankhalim towards Kudnem-Navelim in a rash and negligent manner.
Police said that upon reaching near the school, the bus struck pedestrian Diksha Satardekar (65), a resident of Gauthan, Sankhalim, who was walking towards Sankhalim. The impact caused her to fall on the roadside, resulting in grievous head injuries.
The injured woman was initially shifted to CHC Sankhalim by a 108 ambulance and was later referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where she is currently undergoing treatment in Ward No. 120.
The case was registered on June 3 following an inquiry conducted by Head Constable Babu Jangale of Bicholim Police Station, who is also investigating the matter.
