ST ANDRE: “We have to fulfil the basic needs of the public like health, education, and shelter and reach out to the last person to make our freedom meaningful,” said the Governor while interacting with the local representatives of village Panchayats of St. Andre Constituency at Batim Pillar Village Panchayat today.
The Governor visited Batim Village Panchayat under Goa Sampurna Yatra Programme.
The Governor said village people are good at heart and hard working.
“The representatives need to work hard to keep up their word of assurance and fulfil people’s demands on time,” he said.
The Governor urged everyone to work together and strive to resolve the problems faced by the people. We have to serve our people in the best possible way. He added that many people are suffering from various diseases and need help who should be extended all possible help.
Under Goa Sampurna Yatra Programme, the Governor informed that he has almost visited most of the village Panchayats and has interacted with their representatives, experiencing their spirit and zeal to work in the interest of the people.
The Governor further said Goa is developing every passing day, and that is a good thing. But the people who leave Goa to seek employment and settle down there are not fair and advised them to return to Goa and work here in the people’s interest.
Local MLA Viresh Borkar welcomed the Governor in his constituency, expressed happiness over the visit and said the visit of the Governor to every constituency is a good gesture which inspires people.
The welfare initiative of the Governor to help cancer and dialysis patients will go a long way to mitigate the suffering of the people, he pointed out.
The Governor handed over cheques of financial assistance of Rs.25,000/each as an aid for Cancer patients.

P Azoshi – Mandur Prashant Naik, Dy Collector Rajesh Azgaonkar, BDO Anil Dhumaskar Addl. Collector Sanjiv Desai Mamlatdar Tiswadi Kaushik Desai were present on occasion.
Earlier, the Governor under the Goa Sampurna Yatra programme visited St.Andre Church at Santan Curca Tiswadi and was received and welcomed by Fr. Oscar Quadros.
Thereafter he also visited the Pillar Seminary Museum of Fr. Agnel Church Pillar. He was greeted by the Superior General of the Society of Pillar, Fr. Nazareth Fernandes, and Fr. Peter D’Mello.
