CANACONA: ‘Elected representatives and People of Loliem-Polem in general should take up the issue of ‘Film City’ in their stride and hold discussion with the 200-odd residents opposed to non-polluting projects in the village of Loliem-Polem understand their concerns, resolve them and move ahead’, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar said.
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar was speaking after laying a Foundation stone for the Water Pipeline Project at Peddem-Loliem in Canacona taluka on Friday.
Tawadkar laid the foundation stone for commencing the works of the water pipeline project at Peddem Loliem, Canacona. The project has a budget of 23 lakhs, and it will cover ward no. 7 and 8 of Loliem-Polem village and according to the Speaker, the new pipeline will ensure clean, safe, and reliable water supply for the local community while also promoting water, land, and energy conservation.
‘The contractor will complete the works in 8-10 days’ time, and people of these areas will get water supply within a month’s time. Besides, laying of water pipelines in the entire village of Loliem-Polem will be completed by the coming May month. All the major issues/works concerning Road, Electricity and Water-supply pertaining to Loliem-Polem village will be completed and such issues will not remain pending in the next three years. Developments will go on, but our next focus will be on human developments’.
‘Everyone feels that developments in the wards/village should be done by Panch, Sarpanch and MLA. Loliem-Polem Panchayat is active and in reiterating my full cooperation to this panchayat, similarly I request people in general to come out in full support and take initiative in gram sabhas and support the panchayat on developmental projects. Villagers should strongly hold and take up the issue of ‘Film city’, it’s the need of the hour. It is purely a non-polluted project and besides some more non-polluted projects can also come. Including The elected representatives, let’s meet the 200-odd people who are opposed to non-polluted projects, understand their concerns, and solve the issues and make Loliem-Polem a self-reliant village in the next 5-10 years time.’
Loliem-Polem Village Panchayat Sarpanct Smt Nisha Chari Dy. Sarpanch Chandrakant Sudhir, Panch members – Ajay Lolienkar, Sachin Naik, Ratna Prabhu , Supriya Pagi, Ashutosh Bandekar were present besides, the PWD (Water-Supply) Officials/Engineers, and some prominent citizens of the area were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.-
